Practical for busy rooms
Easy-clean product options for kitchens, bathrooms, hallways and living spaces.
Click or glue-down LVT, with the subfloor prepared for a reliable finish.
Luxury vinyl tile (LVT) is a practical option for kitchens, bathrooms, hallways and living spaces because it is easy to clean and available in convincing wood, stone and slate designs. Level Floor Fitting installs click and glue-down LVT from its Scarborough base, with supply-and-fit and suitable fit-only options.
Product thickness, wear layer, installation method and manufacturer guidance all matter. Dan can help compare suitable products at different price points or assess LVT you have already sourced. Although many LVT products are described as waterproof, the finished floor is not a substitute for tanking or fixing an underlying moisture problem.
Pattern choice and installation method both affect the result. LVT comes in plank and tile formats, with purpose-made herringbone products for decorative layouts. Click systems generally float, with expansion allowances and underlay requirements set by the range. Glue-down LVT bonds to an appropriately prepared base using a compatible adhesive. Neither is automatically faster, quieter or stronger in every room: subfloor condition, heating, fixed furniture and doorway heights help determine the practical choice.
Before quoting, Dan checks that the floor is sound, dry and sufficiently level. Existing coverings, adhesive residue, movement, moisture or uneven areas may need preparation before installation. Send photographs and room details through the quote form to discuss a visit in Scarborough, Bridlington, Malton, Whitby or elsewhere in the service area.
LVT brands we work with: Karndean, Amtico, Invictus, Polyflor, Moduleo, Luvanto, Brampton Chase, Project Floors, Harvey Maria. Wood, stone and patterned luxury vinyl tiles. Ask Dan about the right range, laying pattern and subfloor preparation. For supply-and-fit, ask about current ranges and samples. If you already have your flooring, send Dan its brand and product details for fitting-only advice. Availability and suitability are checked before quoting.

Glue-down tiles or planks bond to a prepared surface with the adhesive specified for the product and conditions. Their thinner construction can make smoothing particularly important. Click LVT generally floats and needs the manufacturer’s expansion gaps, room-size allowances and support at the joints. An attached acoustic backing does not mean another underlay should be added. Check floor heights, fixed furniture, heating, traffic and the layout together. Dan can assess both options; neither is automatically a preparation-free shortcut or the best choice for every room.
Only after assessing whether the existing base can be made suitable. Tiles must be sound, firmly bonded and clean; loose areas or unsuitable residues can prevent a preparation system bonding correctly. Grout lines and ridges may need smoothing before glue-down LVT. Timber bases need movement and support checks, followed by a compatible overlay or preparation specification where required. Existing floor height also affects appliances and doorways. Unknown older tiles or adhesive should not be sanded or scraped without identification. Photos are useful, but the survey determines whether retaining the base is appropriate.
No. A tile’s resistance to spills describes the product, not the condition beneath it. Moisture in concrete or screed can affect preparation layers, adhesive or the surrounding structure. The correct test and acceptable result depend on the selected floor and installation system. If moisture control is needed, the membrane, primer, smoothing compound and adhesive must form a compatible specification. Leaks and defective structures need investigation, not simply sealing under a new finish. Even a floating click system must meet its own subfloor-moisture requirements.
Choose an actual herringbone product and installation system first; ordinary straight planks are not always interchangeable with pattern blocks. Discuss the main sight line, centre line, borders, doorway transitions and whether the design continues between rooms. These decisions affect material waste and time, particularly in irregular rooms or around columns. The base needs the preparation required by the specific glue-down or click range. Dan can measure and set out a practical scheme, then quote the flooring, preparation and patterned fitting rather than treating herringbone as a standard straight-plank job.
Provide the heating-system details and exact LVT range. The floor, adhesive or backing must all permit that system, and instructions can set surface or bond-line temperature limits as well as shutdown and gradual restart requirements. New heated screeds need appropriate commissioning and moisture checks before installation. Large rugs and fixed furniture can affect heat distribution, so their proposed use is worth discussing. A commonly quoted temperature is not a substitute for the product’s current instructions; Dan can plan the specification and sequence before a fitting date is confirmed.
Many ranges suit busy domestic spaces, but check the room-use and wear specification. A water-resistant surface is not wet-room waterproofing, and a textured wood effect is not proof of safe grip when wet. Bathroom edge details and the substrate must follow product guidance. Pets’ claws, grit and heavy furniture can still mark flooring, so suitable entrance mats, approved protectors and prompt spill cleaning matter. Explain the likely traffic and wet use so Dan can compare a suitable LVT range with sheet vinyl or specialist safety options where needed.
A local replacement may be possible, but glue-down and click repairs use different methods. A click board may require access from a room edge; an adhesive repair must not damage the prepared base. Keep spare pieces and the product label because discontinued colours or worn existing flooring can make an invisible match unrealistic. For everyday care, remove grit and use the manufacturer’s approved cleaner and water amount. Do not assume a steam mop or an abrasive household cleaner is permitted. Allow the specified adhesive curing period before washing or moving heavy items.
Expected footfall, wheeled furniture, cleaning and temperature conditions affect both the product and adhesive specification. A domestic range does not automatically meet a shop, café or office requirement, and ordinary LVT is not a substitute for wet-area safety flooring. Room shape, herringbone cutting, moisture control and smoothing can be more important to the programme than total area. Discuss access, trading hours and return-to-use restrictions before planning a reopening. The quote should identify preparation and finishing separately and allow the relevant drying, conditioning and curing stages.
